SMART Africa Network 2025 ASL Bootcamp delivered what textbooks can’t, hands-on perfusion MRI in action

It was a full day of learning, curiosity, and connection at the ASL (Arterial Spin Labelling) Bootcamp on July 22, 2025, at Redeemer’s Health Village, Lagos.

As the kick-off event for the 4th SMART Africa MRI Workshop, the session brought together researchers, radiologists, and students from within and across Africa to explore the science and application of ASL, a powerful, non-invasive MRI technique for measuring brain perfusion.

 The atmosphere was hands-on and collaborative, with open discussions and real-time problem solving.

As the day wrapped up, one thing was clear, African imaging is not just catching up, it’s carving its own path.
