As part of our mission to advance imaging, research, and capacity building across the continent, SMART Africa, led by our Director Prof. Godwin Ogbole, had the pleasure of visiting the African Medical Centre of Excellence, Abuja (AMCE Abuja), a world-class, quaternary-level facility being developed by Afreximbank in partnership with King’s College Hospital, London.

The visit focused on exploring collaboration between AMCE Abuja and the SMART Africa Network to advance shared goals in medical imaging, research, and training. This partnership presents exciting opportunities to strengthen Africa’s capacity in MRI and diagnostic healthcare, while addressing medical tourism and brain drain.

This exciting engagement reinforces our shared vision: a healthier, better-educated, and self-sufficient Africa through medical innovation and strategic partnerships.

Don't miss the upcoming 4th SMART Africa MRI Workshop! Taking place in Lagos, Nigeria from July 23–25, 2025. This is a unique opportunity to gain hands-on MRI training, network with experts, and collaborate on real-world solutions for the continent.

Registration closes: June 15, 2025
